SLAM

San Diego Local Analytics Model

SLAM is the technology powering foamo's surf forecasting. It provides conditions ratings and wave height predictions for 16 breaks across San Diego County.

How it works

Built on real surfer reports.

We use thousands of data points and reports from real San Diego surfers across the county to train a model calibrated specifically to San Diego's breaks. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all global forecast, SLAM is tuned to the physics, bathymetry, and local knowledge that makes each break unique.

Hyper-local

San Diego only. By design.

SLAM is not trying to forecast the world. It goes deep on one coastline, learning the specific characteristics of each break. Combining raw ocean physics, seafloor mapping, and real surfer reports, it builds an understanding of why Scripps Pier can be flat while Blacks is firing on the same swell.

Always improving

Weekly updates. Every swell.

SLAM receives weekly updates to sharpen its accuracy as new swells roll down the coastline. More reports mean better forecasts, and every session reported helps the model understand San Diego just a little bit better.
